We don't build websites "to a formula"
A lot of websites are built to the same recipe: an off-the-shelf theme, a few nice sections, some text, a contact form and a quick "all done". At first it looks fine. The trouble starts later, when the site gets slow, hard to edit, dependent on plugins and less and less pleasant to maintain.
At Astrofy we approach it differently. First we look at what the site is for. Should it win enquiries? Sell a service? Show a portfolio? Tidy up the offer? Or replace an old site that has been running on WordPress for years and is starting to get in the way rather than help? Only then do we choose the structure, the content, the look and the technology.
A good website doesn't have to be huge. It doesn't need dozens of animations and a dashboard with a hundred options. It needs to be fast, clear, comfortable on mobile and built so that, a few months down the line, you can still develop it normally.
Why Astro and Tailwind?
Astro gives us a light foundation for modern websites. Instead of loading a heavy system and needless JavaScript onto the visitor, we deliver finished, fast HTML. That works especially well for business websites, landing pages, blogs, documentation and light shops.
Tailwind CSS, in turn, helps keep the look of the site in order. With it we build consistent sections faster and control spacing, colours, responsiveness and layout without piling on random stylesheets. It isn't magic. It's just a comfortable, modern way of working with the interface.
Astro and Tailwind together give us something that's often missing from traditional sites built on off-the-shelf themes: control. Over the code, the performance, the structure and what actually reaches the visitor's browser.
Who do we work with?
Most of the businesses who come to us have had enough of heavy sites, slow WordPress, update headaches or projects nobody wants to touch. Sometimes it's a full redesign. Sometimes it's a migration from WordPress to Astro. Sometimes it's a brand-new site from scratch, but built more sensibly than the last one.
We work with service businesses, B2B brands, small shops, specialists, digital product makers and businesses that need a fast, well-designed site that's properly set up for SEO. Not every business needs a sprawling CMS. Sometimes it's better to have a site that's simpler, but faster and calmer to maintain.
We like projects where the substance matters: a better PageSpeed score, a tidy offer, a strong mobile version, a clean heading structure, sensible content and less technical debt for the future.
What's it like working together?
We start with a conversation and a look at what actually needs doing. Not every project needs the site rebuilding from scratch. Sometimes a free audit, fixing the heaviest elements or tidying up the structure is enough. But if the current site is too old, too slow or cobbled together from random solutions, then it's better to design it again from the ground up.
On a new project we agree the scope, the page structure, the key goals and the visual direction. Then we build the site to be fast, responsive and ready to grow. We also take care of the technical basics: redirects, meta data, SEO structure, the sitemap, images, Core Web Vitals and a clean deployment.
We don't promise miracles in two clicks. We build sites properly, the normal way, without adding elements just because they "look nice in the pitch". Every section should have a reason to be there. Every element should add something.
What does a fast website mean in practice?
Site speed isn't just a number in a testing tool. It's the visitor's first impression. It's how long before they see the content. It's how comfortable it is to browse on a phone. It's a smaller chance that someone closes the page before they've even seen the offer.
That's why we don't treat performance as an add-on at the end of a project. We think about it from the start: in the structure, the graphics, the components, the images, the fonts and the scripts. It's easier to build a fast site from the foundations than to rescue a heavy one later with yet another optimisation plugin.
In practice that means less needless code, fewer dependencies, lighter assets and more predictability. The site should perform well not just for us on a fast connection, but for the visitor on a phone who has no patience for slow sites.
Astro isn't the right choice for every project
Astro is excellent, but it isn't the answer to everything. If a project needs a heavy user dashboard, a large shop with thousands of products, customer accounts, advanced application logic or several editors working in a CMS every day, it needs careful thought.
We don't force technology on anyone. If WordPress, Shopify, a headless CMS or some other solution makes more sense, we'll say so plainly. What matters most is that the site fits the way the business actually works, not just our favourite stack.
Astrofy exists precisely so we can make smarter choices. Less going through the motions, less copying templates, more thinking about what the site has to do once it's published.
